If you’ve found yourself here because you’ve Googled problems configuring or installing Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a RAID on the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard, then you’re probably wondering what you have been doing wrong, and why it doesn’t seem to work!
The symptoms are that once you have configured the RAID in BIOS, Windows 7 (64 bit) will not install and pauses asking for drivers.
After wasting hours on this, and trying to give it RAID drivers from the Asus website, it turns out it isn’t the RAID drivers it is looking for, it is the USB3 drivers it is looking for.
The easy solution is to not try and load Windows 7 via the USB3 slot, and just use any of the other USB slots to load the operating system from. This problem is badly documented here.
